Introduction to CNC Programming, Setup and Operation

Introduction to CNC Programming, Setup and Operation provides the student with an introdcutory experience in CNC operations. This course provides fundamental technical information in machining systems, positioning andcoordinate systems as well as part programming, program procedures and basic setup and operation of CNC milling machines. Students will write simple programs to perform contouring and hole-making operations for typical CNC milling machines and perform the required set-up and operations to produce parts to blueprint specification in the College's state-of-the-art CNC Lab and HAAS Technical Education Center.

Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of typical G and M codes used in modern CNC controls. Throughout the course, students will be required to perform calculations for speeds and feeds for various tooling. Safe work practices and material handling will be an integral and important aspect of the classroom and work environment.
